Privacy Policy
Last updated: 26 September 2026
Your privacy matters more here than almost anywhere else. This page explains, in plain language, what we store and who can see it.
Who we are
My mental health is a peer support and self-tracking app for adults in the UK. It is not a medical service and is not monitored in an emergency. This policy explains what information we hold about you, why, and who can see it.
What we store
When you register and use the app, we store:
- Your account — your email address and a display name, used to sign you in and identify you to other members.
- Your profile — optional details you add, such as a short bio. You control whether your profile is discoverable by other members in Settings.
- Daily entries and mood check-ins — private to you. No other member can see them.
- Safety check-ins — private to you. They exist so you can look back at what helped.
- Community room messages — visible only to members who have joined that room, and to moderators so they can respond to reports.
- Private messages — visible only to the two people in the conversation, and to moderators where a message has been reported.
- Preferences — your email, accessibility and consent settings.
Who can see what
- Only you: daily entries, mood history, safety check-ins, and your settings.
- Room members: messages posted in a room you have both joined.
- Your conversation partner: private messages between you and them.
- Moderators: reported content (with a snapshot of the reported message), so they can keep the community safe. Moderators cannot read your private diary, mood entries or safety check-ins.
How content is moderated
Any member can report a room or private message. A report shares a copy of that specific message with our moderators, who can dismiss it or take action. We keep a record of moderation decisions so the process stays fair and accountable.
AI coping guidance
If you use the Coping page, the words you write about how you feel are sent to an AI service to generate coping suggestions. This text is used only to produce your response — it is not used to train models and is not shown to other members. Don't include details that identify you or anyone else.
What we never do
- We never sell your data.
- We never show advertising or share your data with advertisers.
- We never make your private entries, messages or check-ins visible to other members.
Security
Your data is stored on secure, encrypted infrastructure. Access rules are enforced at the database level, so even our own app cannot show your private entries to anyone but you. Passwords are handled by our sign-in provider and are never stored in readable form.
Your choices and rights
- Control your email notifications, profile discoverability and accessibility settings any time in Settings.
- You can leave any community room at any time; your past messages remain in the room but you can delete them individually.
- You can ask us to delete your account and the data attached to it by contacting us.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data, we will update this page and note the date below. Significant changes will be highlighted in the app.
In an emergency
This app is not monitored for emergencies. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999. For confidential support any time, call Samaritans on 116 123.
